Rare fatty acids and lipids in plant oilseeds: occurrence and bioactivity

Abstract Lipids are biomolecules which present in plants as general metabolites with different functions such structural, protective and also storage material. Plants produce a high number of fatty acids: the most common structural types long linear hydrocarbon chains, saturated or unsaturated an even carbon atoms. In addition, accumulate rare acids reference to their occurrence structures arrangement bonds, chain branches, type functional groups, cyclic halogenation. Their presence is limited plant leaves, roots stems, while they mostly found components seed oils. The review aims describe features selected unusual occurring plants, bioactivity applications pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food non-food industrial products. Cyanolipids, group natural lipids containing cyanogenic molecule only oils few species commented.
